Before considering yoga asanas I would like to share some points regarding weight gain which is the main cause of all major diseases like diabetes, cancer, gastric disorders. So, what is the main cause that people are gaining weight? Here are some causes:

  • Irregular bowel habits
  • Lifestyle style modifications
  • Lack of exercise
  • Changes in sleep pattern
  • High intake of calories rich food
  • Negligence towards healthy diet
  • Consumption of oily, spicy and fatty food
  • Hereditary reasons
  • Depression and stressful life
  • Hormonal imbalance

So, Consider the above parameters and start losing weight in a healthy way. It doesn't mean you need to starve to get that size zero but maintaining healthy weights avoids many health problems and diseases. You must be thinking how to achieve perfect size without giving much time from our busy life? The answer is through Yoga. Yes, you hear it right It's through 30 minutes of Yoga daily can help you lose weight without much effort.

They are many celebrities who gives classes for Yoga like Shilpa Shetty, Bipasha Basu and how can we forget Baba Ramdev who brought a drastic improvement in Yoga asanas who made it really easier to perform Yoga. One of the famous Yoga consultant Amit Ray says"Yoga is not a religion. It is a science, science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating body, mind and soul."

Fitness and yoga expert Seema says"I can't really pinpoint any specific set of asanas for weight loss. Almost all of them aim at cleansing your inner mechanism, strengthening your core and stamina, increasing flexibility, and upping your metabolic rate," She points that yoga not only keeps us healthy but it also activates our body muscles which make us active all day long.

Yoga asanas which help in weight loss

Garudasana (Eagle pose)

This asana is basically related to standing straight while bending knees then balancing on right foot followed by stretching of arms then folding in the parallel direction of the floor. Be in this position for 15 seconds and repeat it for 5-6 times. It helps in improving sense and concentration which strengthens ankles and calves while providing flexibility and rigidity to the body. People with knee injury should not perform this asana

Setu Bandh (Bridge Pose)

Firstly lie on your back with stretched hands following by raising the lower body part exactly from the pelvis area. This asana helps in good stretching of chest, abdominal muscles, spine and neck. It helps in easy digestion as well as relieves from stress and anxiety. Avoid doing this if you have back or neck problems.

Shalabhasana (Locust Pose)

This asana is performed to strengthen back, hips and muscles of the thigh while stimulating inner organs that reduces stress and depression. In this we need to lie on stomach and hands stretched upwards. Leg are also stretched in the opposite direction of the floor. Refrain from this if you have a headache or back injury.

Pavanmuktasana (Wind-releasing Pose)

Lie on your back and fold the knee while bringing it towards the face and hold the legs with hands then repeat this asana after 20 seconds. Helps in reducing belly fat and leads to easy digestion for the persons who are facing constipation problem. Hernia or Piles patient should not perform it and not ideal for expecting mothers.

Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)

Consider lie on the floor such that your palms are on the floor while legs resting on the ground and neck, face facing upward direction. Some mythological belief is this asana destroys ailments and increases body heat. Carpal tunnel syndrome and back injured people should avoid this asana

Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)

Apart from yoga asana, this posture we used to perform in school as part of the daily exercise. Basically, you need to stand straight with feet apart. Turning Right foot to 90 degrees while right hand touching the ground and left hand stretched straight upwards. Do it for about 30 seconds. The good thing about it is that it improves stimulation of muscles, avoids constipation, Relieves from back pain and also lowers blood pressure for the individuals who face higher B.P. problem.

Apart from performing this asana you need to consider proper diet which might really be helpful early weight loss. So, everyone please perform this Yoga postures daily early in the morning for 30 minutes.
